Tommy Hilfiger was born to be an entrepreneur. By 18 he opened “The People’s Place”, a store that specialized in hippie supplies. Soon Hilfiger ran a chain of stores; however, after a downturn in the economy he was forced to file for bankruptcy.  Shortly after the bankruptcy, he met his wife and they ventured out to become a fashion design team. Their efforts failed and Hilfiger realized that he wanted his own line. After teaming up with an entrepreneur, the Tommy Hilfiger line was launched. A bold attitude and swift marketing soon lead the brand to becoming the household name it is today.
